Michael KingMichael King is a nationally recognized marketing expert, author and speaker.

His thoughts on accountable marketing strategy, including database marketing and customer profitability management (CPM) have been sought and published by general business and industry publications such as 1to1, DM News, DIRECT, Response, Target Marketing, Marketing News, CMO, CRM, Strategy, Adweek, Brandweek and The Wall Street Journal, among others.

Mr. King offers 35+ years of client and agency strategic marketing experience, working with a variety of leading organizations, from start-ups to Fortune 50 global corporations.

Beginning his career with an Atlanta-based ad studio while still in graduate school, Mr. King was later lured away to the client side as marketing director of a business-to- business publisher.

In 1989, Mr. King founded King & More, Inc., a full-service database marketing agency, based in Atlanta. Serving both consumer and business- to-business accounts, King & More clients have included UPS, MCI, WorldCom, Melita, the TVA, Leica Geosystems, National Service Industries, Homart Development Corporation, Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, Davidson Retirement Properties, The Scotts Company, HomeBanc Mortgage and Southtrust Bank among others.

Over the years, King & More has captured a number of industry awards, including SOUTHSTAR, ECHO, ADDY and AMY awards, among other recognition for the firm’s work and respective results.

In 2000, Mr. King was tapped by Grizzard Communications Group, then one of the Top 10 direct marketing agencies in the U.S., to guide strategy and creative development for all of the firm’s consumer and business-to-business accounts. When Grizzard was acquired by Omnicom Group in 2002, Mr. King was chosen to lead the commercial group, re-branded Grizzard Performance Group (GPG) by Michael.

While building GPG, Mr. King concepted and created a service platform termed Customer Profitability Management, or CPM. As part of the CPM platform, Michael also created the Diminishing Point of Customer concept, which has been recognized by several industry publications as the “new math of marketing.” In 2005, recognizing Mr. King’s pioneering efforts in customer valuation, the American Business Awards (Stevies) recognized Michael as finalist, Marketer of the Year.

In 2007, Mr. King bid adieu to the ad holding company world and re-launched King & More as a consultative boutique, offering corporate and senior marketing management direct access to senior-level, strategic expertise in accountable marketing. He has since narrowed the firm’s focus on mature market verticals, including senior living.

Mr. King received his B.B.A. in marketing from Stetson University and M.B.A. in marketing from Georgia State University.

Mr. King has frequently been called on by some of the country’s leading business, marketing and management associations to speak at conferences, seminars and internal meetings. Past engagements include the American Marketing Association, Business Marketing Association, Direct Marketing Association, International Association of Business Communicators, Public Relations Society of America, Interactive Marketing Association and American Management Association, among others.

Michael, along with his wife and business partner Anne, reside in the northern suburbs of Atlanta with their dogs Daisy Mae and Huck. When he’s not helping corporate management increase marketing R.O.I., you’ll usually find Michael with a fly rod in his hand.
